Cars in German Town Discovered Covered with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Police Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Authorities reported they were alerted by a individual who noticed a automobile in Hanau marked with red-colored substance

Approximately 50 vehicles have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm police.

Vehicles, walls and postal boxes were defaced, in some cases with swastikas, they announced in a statement.

Police say they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a resident noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued liquid.

The substance had been applied in the form of a Nazi symbol, they reported.

Officers then located multiple other smeared automobiles and residential walls in the surrounding area.

These symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation prohibiting the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.

Officials say early analysis suggest the liquid was probably human bodily fluid.

"There is still no indication as to where it came from; investigators are not yet aware of any physical harm in relation with the occurrence," they commented.

City officials stated they were attempting "to solve the incident" and have asked to the community for information.

A senior official said the incident left him speechless and needed to be addressed quickly.

"This incident strikes at the center of Hanau and revives the wounds of the extremist violent incident in 2020," he stated on online, mentioning the killing of nine victims by a gunman targeting residents of foreign heritage in 2020.
