19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been earned on hardcourt
A resurgent Medvedev secured his first championship for nearly 30 months with a win over opponent Moutet in the competition championship match.
Medvedev, a ex- number one, has had a torrid year, achieving just one win at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the American major.
The player's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serving in particular - resulted in him exiting of the top ten and eventually parting ways with long-time trainer Gilles Cervara.
Currently collaborating with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually advanced in the last few weeks - culminating in a closely contested competitive triumph over challenger Moutet.
It is Medvedev's maiden championship since the Rome competition and first on a hard surface from that period of that year.
The win also means he has achieved twenty-one victories at 21 different events.
"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a competition with my children simultaneously, so to secure a trophy is particularly special," stated tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.
"This victory is in tribute of my second daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I achieved when my child Alisa was delivered was for her."
Medvedev, the past champion, had lost his past six finals, comprising in that event in the past months.
Medvedev's retrieving approach and frequent emotional displays on court had prompted observers to question if his ability to compete at the top level was over.
But the athlete has made changes in recent weeks, attempting to come to the net and compete aggressively, backed up by an better serve.
The champion fought back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the challenging Frenchman, securing four of the final five exchanges to gain the advantage.
Both players swapped service breaks in the following set before Moutet, striving for his maiden tour title, seized the initiative to create a decider.
The opponent defended four early-game break points in a competitive deciding set before Medvedev secured a break to that score to serve for the match.
Fittingly, he clinched victory with a point at the net area, with the Frenchman unable to handle a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
