Donald Trump's Framework of Retribution and Reward

Trump's insatiable desire for retribution has swiftly morphed into a methodical framework. Within the past year, the chief executive's anger and impulses have assumed the guise of government actions in a manner comparable to past repressive regimes. Government officials who do not cooperate are summarily fired and replaced by supporters. Opposing leaders who challenge him encounter legal action, court proceedings and sanctions. Adversaries have been categorized under executive orders as “unpatriotic”, “anti-Christian” and “anti-capitalist”, and warned with prosecution as “security threats”.

Federal Agencies Remade

All case involving targeting of political opponents and leniency for his allies demonstrates its own unique characteristics. Yet, despite their individual form, they represent expressions of what has emerged as a calculated technique. Those incidents are anything but random. Trump's removal of federal attorneys and Federal Bureau of Investigation officials, alongside his placement of loyalists in high-level positions, started quickly, soon took on a regularity, and has now been formed into a regime. Federal prosecutors and the law enforcement agency have been transformed into ideological organizations under the president's clear orders to implement his wishes. Wrongdoing has been turned into standard. It represents the retribution system.

Administration is focused with punishing the leader's perceived enemies than they are with safeguarding our public welfare.

Inside the Apparatus

The foundation of this framework has been revealed in the court filing of several previous senior law enforcement agents filed in late summer in the federal court in DC against FBI director an administration figure and top lawyer another official for illegal termination in “a campaign of revenge against the officials for what administration figures considered to be a refusal to show sufficient devotion”. The document states that one official, the previous acting FBI director, details a discussion in which Patel “freely acknowledged the unlawfulness of his conduct”.

He had attempted to protect FBI agents from being dismissed, the complaint states. The director advised him that “White House figures” – interpreted by him to be the executive branch and federal prosecutors – had directed him to fire anyone who they determined as having participated in a law enforcement case against him. The filing adds: “The director explained that he had to dismiss the individuals his bosses told him to remove, because his chance to retain his own job relied on the removal of the officials who were involved in investigations involving the President. He noted that there was no way he or the official could do to prevent these or any other firings, because ‘the FBI attempted to incarcerate the President in jail and he hasn't forgotten it.’” After he informed Patel he was disregarding the agency's own regulations, Patel supposedly said “he recognized that and he knew the essence of the swift terminations were almost certainly improper”.

Extensive Impact

After his alleged admission to the official, the DoJ and the FBI have been weakened and redirected for his retribution system. Several of the bureau's high-ranking agents were dismissed or forced out in the first days of the presidency. Roughly thousands of legal professionals at DoJ have agreed to a “voluntary departure plan”. A minimum of seven government attorneys, including those in the Manhattan division, quit in dissent over what they viewed as partisan influence in abandoning the criminal prosecution against the local official, a political figure, in as a trade for his cooperation with Trump's Immigration and Customs Enforcement detentions of migrants. The anti-corruption unit of DoJ, which handles misconduct investigations, has been reduced to minimal staff. The rights protection unit has been decimated: 70% of its staff has departed. 33% of executives at DoJ have left. The division enforcing environmental law has experienced the exit of half its management.

Favors and Sanctions

Regarding the mayor's situation, the acting US attorney for the southern district of New York, Danielle Sassoon, stepped down in protest against what she labeled as the “trade-off”. The border official, his “immigration leader,” showed up as the enforcer with Adams on Fox News to announce: “If he doesn't come through, I'll reappear in NYC.”. And, a former official, earlier the acting deputy attorney general and a ex-lawyer, who negotiated the deal, was given an judicial position, a possible springboard to the supreme court.

Trump's protection for wrongdoings committed while in power, granted by the remarkable decision of the Republican majority on the highest court, thus thwarting his legal action over the Capitol riot and maintaining his public standing for the 2024 election, is the basis on which he relies to defend his supporters. Under these circumstances, he has been empowered to enable misconduct. The effect of the judicial ruling saturates his government and the political party thoroughly. The legal case has escalated. Similar to Richard Nixon's White House counsel the figure remarked about the Watergate
